Forget Protests
No the government strategy is not working. But the people aggressively protesting mostly achieve little or nothing either. They alienate rather than persuade, politicians. The protesters appeared to make the politicians look stupid and to unjustly blame them for the war in Palestine, the Bondi massacre and the Jewish reaction to it.

Australians are more inclined to get together and examine the problems, dig out the underlying causes and find the best solutions. They look for the win / win solution.
