Protest is confrontation

Protest is about confrontation. It makes politicians look stupid, negligent and incompetent. That is not the way to convince anyone to do anything. One can only imagine that protest is really an ego trip for the protesters.

It rarely provides information on the problems, underlying causes or potential solutions.  They are what justify political action to fix the problems. That foreign influences inflict on Australians by street protest, evils or perceived evils done by foreign nations, if unrealistic. If countries see the best way to resolve their differences to be killing their opponents, then there is not much we in Australia can do about it.  

Australians are more inclined to get together and examine the problems, dig out the underlying causes and find the best solutions. They look for the win / win solution. That is the least worst solution for both sides. Then they use Votergrams to quietly convince their parliaments to get it done. No protests or media publicity are involved.
